I know this is a dumb question, but I have a 3 year evaluation that needs to be done for a language and artic student.
This is somewhat related, but I have seen diagnostician decide not to do the 3 year formal testing and just use the student's progress report and informal observation for some kids who they know is very severe.
So my questions is can you do that with speech and just not do formal testing ?. I have in the past, just used progress report, informal observation, and/or a screener for a kid with articulation disorder because it's obvious that they still have errors.
With language I know it's tricky, but is it possible to do the same thing based on progress report, informal observation, and/or screener?
Also what are the reasons why you need additional evaluation data (formal testing) if it's obvious child still needs to work on goals? I always think that the best time to do formal testing is when you think the child is ready for dismissal.
As I am testing this kid, I also wonder if I can select the core tests that the kid is weak on instead of applying all tests. It saves me time and it keeps kids from missing instructional time.
