license in IL after finishing CFY in Indiana

I am currently in the middle of my CFY in a school setting in Indiana. I would like to move to Chicago this summer and try and find a jo there.

Does anyone know how long it takes to obtain your CCC's after finishing your CFY and how long it would take to get licensed in Illinois? Also, do places typically consider you prior to obtaining a license in the new state (assuming that you will be getting one once you officially move). I really would like to live in Chicago, but I was wondering if I would be jobless for a while depending on the amount of time to obtain the license. Thanks!

It depends on when you send in the paperwork and how many people do it at the same time. I received my ASHA CCCs within about 6 weeks after filling out the paperwork - some people it took as long as 12.

When you apply and/or interview, you can say that you've applied for licensure - they will take that into consideration. Same thing for the CCCs. You just won't be able to legally work until you are licensed. However, if you have licensure in one state, it's usually easier to get it in another (note: this is licensure - NOT certification to work in schools).

One of the SLPs who worked in my district in Texas, moved back to Illinois. She got her Texas License first and then got her Illinois license.

Call the state board and see what they recommend.
