Back to work

Hi Everyone,

I have been out of the field for 10 years and am trying to get back to work in a SNF. I recently completed a short "externship" through a local university to bring my skills back up to par, but I'm a little concerned about how I will measure up against other job applicants. Any advice or recommendations for my search? Thank you in advance!

Take additional CEU courses on dysphagia/cognitive impairments.

Just wondering- how did you manage to complete an externship through a local university? That's great, and I would definitely be interested in doing that, but I assumed that in order to complete an externship one would need to be a student... in terms of the contract between the externship site and the university. What type of setting was it?

I agree that taking additional CEU courses will help. I have been doing that, and I already feel a lot more confident than I did before. Be sure to mention that you're taking initiative to take courses, shadow, etc. on any interviews you may have.
